TFI WRAPS UP WOMEN PROJECT WITH COMMUNITY INCLUSION AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
On the 12th of August, 2025, Teenagers Care for Sustainable Development Initiative wrapped up her 6 months project tagged ‘Leading Change: A Women Empowerment and Inclusion Awareness for Community Impact Project’, for women and adolescent girls in Adeke community, Makurdi LGA of Benue State. The project which began in April 2025, was in partnership with Nigeria Women Trust Fund (NWTF) and funded by Ford Foundation.
The one-day inclusion awareness campaign was attended by men, women and girls from the community, representatives of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and the Benue State Bureau of International Cooperation and Development (BICD) as well as representatives from NWTF.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director of women, Mrs. Magdalene Andor, charged the women not to relent base on their gender, but work towards becoming relevant in their communities. She informed that the state government was already implementing policies to empower women and charged the women to key into them. She also called on leaders and members of the community to see women as equal partners in development, and be included in decision-making process for positive impact in the community.
Other dignitaries who spoke at the event, applauded the implementation of the project and the women for participating. They urged the women to put into use, the knowledge the participants in the project have received and foster new ideas that will bring positive change within their community.
The campaign which had over 100 participants witnessed the presentation of certificates to successful participants of the 10 weeks leadership training and mentorship program.
