PROJECT SAGE-GBV STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT – FIDA

As part of advocacy efforts to strengthen collaborations in the fight against GBV in Makurdi LGA of Benue State, The Project SAGE-GBV team paid a courtesy/advocacy visit to the the chairperson of FIDA Benue State Chapter Barr. Blessing Ityohuun.
Speaking during the visit, the Project lead, Mrs. Juliana Loture shared insights into the result of the baseline survey conducted on the impact of GBV on women’s perception of leadership participation, lamenting knowledge gap in GBV issues as well as opportunities for women’s involvement in leadership. She requested support from FIDA during the project timeline especially in the area of increased awareness and protection of survivors.
Responding, FIDA chairperson, Benue State chapter, Barr. Blessing Ityohuun commended the team for the initiative and lamented the negative impact of GBV on women, especially in preventing them from maximizing their full potential. She briefed the team of the role of FIDA in the fight against GBV in the state and pledged her support to the project. She also promised to make herself and the organization available wherever needed during the project timeline.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of the project uniform to the Chairperson as well as group photograph.
